I like him a lot, he's just been given bad scripts/plots... ditto with Jodie. She deserves at least one more season with a better writer, too

He has gotten far better material than Jody Whitaker got. But, yeah, the situation is similar.

I agree. I really liked Whitaker as the Doctor but the vast majority of the writing was not just substandard but bad.

Gatwa has had some better stuff, I like his portrayal as well but I do struggle to enjoy the writing still.

The man definitely has range. Imagine doing "The Devil's Chord," "Boom," and "Dot & Bubble" in the same season, and pulling off your part in each one perfectly.

And then RTD makes a horrifying unforced error and kicks off the season with "Space Babies."

It's honestly a travesty what they did to this guy. Gatwa has slid into the role more comfortably than any new Doctor since Tom Baker, but the best scripts they've handed him have been 7/10s. (Caveat: I haven't seen any of season 2 yet.)

Season 2 he has really settled into the role, it feels a lot more like regular who

One of the major problems with Disney Doctor is that the character is written too human in my opinion. He said "oh my gosh" quite too often for a non-Catholic alien.

The real question is which would be the real "invocation of a superstition"? Saying "oh my god", as a direct invocation, or "oh my gosh", as an indirect yet doubled invocation, with the implication that the word "god" is too sacred to exclaim?
