Imagine we come to learn that we're the absolute biggest assholes in all of the universe, and that's why all the alien homies avoid us.
Honestly that would be great, because that means the rear of the universe is nicer than our corner.
I mean, imagine the other way around: we are the nicest ones. That would be one literal hell of a universe.
That, vampire, yokai, wasps, and pretty much all of Australia.
I'd expect advanced alien civilisations to be further along at evolving beyond their atavistic impulses. We have a long way to go there.
Technology implies belligerence.
Technology is a war we wage against nature; technology is a means of asserting ourselves and usurping nature's rule, which is necessarily a violent act.
