General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Under previous policy, we had advised that someone with a Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC) may be searched in accordance with their acquired sex, however as an interim position while we digest yesterday’s judgement, we have advised our officers that any same sex searches in custody are to be undertaken in accordance with the biological birth sex of the detainee.

“We are in the process of reviewing the implications of the ruling and will consider any necessary updates to our policies and practices in line with the law and national guidance.”

Why do you believe such obvious bullshit? Why spread it on the Internet?

That's why I'm asking here, to balance it out and get a more balanced and well rounded viewpoint. Not everybody wants to live in an echo chamber.

That doesn't answer the question.

Introducing lies to a discussion doesn't make for a more well rounded conversation, it just creates noise. You're just blaring the reverberations of your personal echo chamber into the public forum and pretending like it's a novel perspective nobody has considered.

You're like: "Everyone here is talking about orbital mechanics, but have you considered the earth is flat?" It's not insightful or interesting, that it's just nonsense. Diverse perspectives are only valuable if they have a basis in reality.

Personally I think you're doing it to get a rise out of people, I think the disagreement is fun, it's like a game you can play to make the situation feel less serious. Just a bit of trolling.

I'm blaring the reverberations of one echo chamber into another echo chamber

You're ripping a fart in the public square and calling it discourse. You're a fool.

You're the one calling other people's opinions "farts". You're in an echo chamber, not a public square

I'm calling the misinformation you're spreading a fart, because it's noxious noise. It's a metaphor for spreading lies without consideration of the truth. Scotland's gender recognition certificates aren't an opinion, it's a government policy. Your aren't offering a diverse perspective, you're simply incorrect, proudly trumpeting your inaccuracies to get attention.
