I made a recreation of a local bust of Kaiser Wilhelm (one of the good ones, brought peace to Europe (the non-ominous way)) that happened to include an actual iron cross medal. I was concerned about modern interpretations and so I did research on it, and the anti-defamation league tells me that it is not a hate symbol. Good enough for me.

The very same! I don't really care about these guys anecdotal evidence, because in practice everyone with an iron cross tattoo is actually a Nazi.
