Aren't these guys uncontacted because they've attacked literally everything that we've seen them with?

So essentially any contact would probably go poorly for the first contactors, and go worse for them?

Yes.

Although to my memory it is because the first contact lead to 50% of their population being killed so now they live in violent isolation.

I could also be confusing them with other islands in the area.

Especially since now there’s covid (in addition to everything else) and I don’t trust that guy to have taken sufficient precautions against transmitting diseases

There's one guy that gave them food for twenty years without violating their space. He was able to get pictures with them when they came up to the boat one day. They didn't shoot him or showed agression.

It's possible they were desperate for food that day.
