So, a game that required a day 1 patch and made you lose your save data if you played early access (paying extra money) is not released "half finished and full of bugs", I understand.

You have also conveniently asked what have they done recently to get hatred, then proceeded to mention games from the times when the company was still in its prime. I also liked the Rayman games and the early Prince of Persia trilogy, but they are what, 20 years old?

people don't like a black guy as a main character, or a woman as a main star wars character.

Ok, racism and misogyny are bad, but if they are being racist toward asians is fine I guess?

If you want to have a proper discussion about why Ubisoft is one step from being sold out, maybe you should first remove your rose-tinted glasses and admit there are glaring faults and that's why their games are not selling well.

Im glad you asked. They have:

  • Misrepresented the role of the historical dude (and other historical characters), but we can ignore it since it's just a fantasy game where you punch the Pope in the face. Even though their marketing guys insisted a lot on historical accuracy...
  • Used elements from Chinese architecture and south east Asia, because that's all the same, right?
  • Copied flags from a Japanese historical reenactment society without permission.
  • Published promotional material with the design copied from One Piece.
  • Also, promotional material using the famous Torii Gate that survived the Nagasaki bomb (more insensitive that actually racist).
  • Included a real shrine with its real name (again, without asking permission) and made the environment destroyable (while other locations are indestructible?). This is what sparked national outrage that reached the parliament and forced a day 1 patch.

I'll gliss over the rest of the historical inaccuracies because, again, it's a fantasy game in the end.

If you don't see any racism and general disrespect for the Japanese culture (which they have supposedly accurately researched), It's like I said: rose-tinted glasses.

You're right. It's a fictional game with based off random shit. Do you know how wrong odyssey and origins are? But no, ONLY shadows matters because black guy. I guarentee you, you're just a random snowflake dude who gets upset about shit that doesn't effect you directly. Right?

All of you're "talking points" just look like whining points to shit that doesn't matter where other games have done actual far worse things with no consequences lol. Like playing as a Russian in cod and murdering an entire airport. But no.. that's fine because that wasn't an Ubi game. So they get a pass.

I'm sorry, but you asked why Ubisoft is getting a lot of hate recently, and you are not liking the answer. It seems to me that you are not even willing to entertain the thought that maybe they are just doing a poor job and it's not because of racism or whatever. Also, it's not only Ubisoft, this is just the most trending controversy right now.

Cyberpunk 2077 caught criticism at launch because of piss poor optimization on PC that made GPU crash.

DA Veilguard was generally received as "Mid" by fans of the series.

But sure, let's close our eyes and blame everything on everyone but the studio.
