I'm binging Baldurs Gate 3 and I think it has something to do with an inclusion of a green skinned lady.
Dude. I'm on my third playthrough and have never taken her as my companion. Seen so little of her that I legitimately sat here for about 5 minutes trying to think who in the nine hells you could possibly be talking about.
OMG she's the best. She's flat out the smart rude girls I used to have crushes on in high school. She's ruthless and blunt, but she also has the most growth of any of the companions, I think. She's definitely my top-tier companion. I was all in on a romance with her, but then she wanted us to fight to prove our love, and that was a step too far for me. Rude and a bit mean I can deal with, actively wanting to fight each other, ehhhhh... Still my favorite snarky companion.
Wyll or Shadowheart is my favorite. Wyll reminds me a lot of myself in weird ways so I guess it makes sense that the gay dude is going towards his clone. Shadowhearts reasons for why she is who she is also resonate a little. I can get it.
As for Lae'Zel... Totally get the appeal. I really do. But I'm Canadian but the first playthrough at the very opening when she's in the cage? I said "Say please first" and she refused so I just straight up walked the fuck away. Second playthrough was similar but with more murder.
I severely fucked up because the one character who I have the hots for the most is my dream guardian. I made him a sexy tiefling and it's a problem.
I'm definitely partial to Wyll as well, but I feel like Shadowheart and Lae'zel have similar stories of disillusionment with their beliefs. I guess I prefer Lae'zel because it takes Shadowheart so so long to open up and feeling more honest. Lae'zel is rude, but you know where you stand with her (below her, heh).
Wyll and Karlach are a great pairing, too. They have run in similar circles (pun intended) and their fates certainly seem intertwined. Wyll's story is one of the more tragic ones, too. It's like he could have been destined to be a paladin, but made a bad deal and end up a lawful(?) good warlock.
I still haven't really used Astarion because he reminds me a little too much of Dennis from It's Always Sunny in Phildalphia and he just seems insufferable.
