Why is anyone else but nazis on X at this point?
I think a lot of artists are still holding on to their following there, bluesky has a lot of the same features (more actually because it allows you to change settings to hide NSFW images), but it's hard to migrate a following to a new site.
Its actually easy.
First, post on the alternative site.
Then mirror the post on xitter after 24 hours with an added "Btw, follow me on Bluesky/Mastodon to be the first to see my posts"
Bonus points if you get banned for promoting an alternative platform, that'll make them seem like their being persecuted and the followers will follow.
If the followers dont follow you then they aren’t followers are they
There are still a lot of major commercial and political and media presences there, which is going to mean a lot of people who report on and follow those entities have to maintain their accounts, and all the people who follow those people are still going to be there.
It's still a huge platform, it's still used by the majority of the world for all manner of applications. We easily get stuck in weird perspectives of the world and current events because a lot of algorithms push "satisfaction porn" on us, making it look like the current political administration is getting "DESTROYED" by this and that... it's as false of a worldview as what they consume, it makes us all think that people like Musk are hurting and suffering as consequence of backlash.
If you browse around the fetid hangouts of the conservatives and Techbros who idolize these people, they're in exactly the same black-hole where perspective cannot escape. "Why would anyone use Bluesky at this point? It's failing every day!" they will proclaim while laughing at how unphased Musk is, and how much success they've been having.
Not making a both-sides argument, just a warning that the algorithm distorts your perspectives - it's designed to make everyone feel validated and that can be incredibly damaging when you're trying to affect change on the world.
I think that as soon as bluesky starts doing verification on accounts, more people will make the switch.
It's still owned by a nazi and put forwards nazi ideas. Staying on this platform just mean you accept to be a nazi-enabler because you think it provides you a personal benefit. AFAIC, people on X are selfish and spineless, fuck every single one of them.
Okay but as I said, it’s still a huge platform, it’s still used by the majority of the world for all manner of applications. Millions of people using it don't even know or care who Elon Musk is. I don't disagree that the nazis are a rising problem that will eventually sink the application, I'm just saying absolutism like this is kind of.... conservativish and cartoonish.
This is absolutely 100% the exact kind of perspective bubble I am warning us all about.
And I'm warning all of us about the exact kind of perspective you have : convenience and indifference.
That's exactly what brought us to the point we are, were an un-elected billionaire can do a nazi salute at the potus inauguration without facing any consequence.
Frothing incoherence it is then, ok be well.
Lol, what does that even mean?
I am coherent with my beliefs, I don't support businesses owned by and promoting nazi ideology.
You are coherent with you belief "that blablablaba insert pedantic rhetoric gonna stay on X".
Well several police department use it ro send our amber alerts. Dear God that's a terrible idea but it true. Months ago there was a twitter outage that stop any emergency alert from going out.
Amber Alerts have their own system that has nothing to do with Twitter. A lot of people disable it but it rings on your phone the way an emergency alert does and it's local to your area. I'm sure they also send alerts through twitter, bluesky, and fascist-book just to cover bases but the main system is not dependent on a social media platform. That would be stupid.
Here is a link to the story https://www.wired.com/story/amber-alert-paywall-california/
You should read that article more carefully. The Amber alert went out on the phone system I mentioned but the detailed information was being displayed on Xwitter. And that was a local decision by that particular police force. Obviously a poor decision at that.
I never said it was a national thing.
