No, he's a fucking moron, this is probably legally-advised ass covering on his part.
I find it so perplexing that you knew to hyphenate "legally-advised" but not "ass-covering". Still, I really appreciate seeing someone else use hyphenation. It makes things so much clearer but is rapidly dying out.
