Yeah I think it's best we don't advertise this place. It's a little strange.

[–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 145 points 1 month ago (11 children)

Come to Lemmy, we got: blood thirsty Linux users, furries, femboys, communists, and tankies. Also, porn.

[–] ikidd@lemmy.world 51 points 1 month ago (2 children)

The porn is sadly lacking, actuallly.

[–] faythofdragons@slrpnk.net 20 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Be the change you want to see

Being humble is sexy!

[–] MITM0@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago
[–] Dreaming_Novaling@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago

Honestly I might get more active in posting, cause some of the content I wanna see is not active/has one person posting on the community. I rarely post on any social media, but the fediverse just sparks something in me to make it a more active place.

What exactly does a DragonTypeWyvern tail look like? Is it long with scales?

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Depends on the kind of wyvern

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

That's all wyverns. Reddit is demonstrably and embarrassingly wrong.

I see a lot more Trek memes here than on reddit and I love every one

[–] MeaanBeaan@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

There we go. I was waiting to be represented.

The Picard Maneuver "Am I joke to you?"

[–] hex@programming.dev 9 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Wait how is Squid this popular? 😂

[–] GregorGizeh@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 month ago

I'd say it is more notoriety than popularity.

[–] InternetCitizen2@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Its not, this incident will be reported to the nearest democracy officer.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 month ago (2 children)

He has the most posts and comments on the Lemmy activity scoreboard.

[–] imaqtpie@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Mother of God, I did not realize that he's pushing 70k comments.

Btw are you just joking or isn't there actually a tool that checks Lemmy profiles and gives a neat little scorecard with some stats? I remember reading a thread where someone linked it but that was a while ago.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

The ios app Mlem shows a scoreboard of users in the search tab. Also Thunder has a monthly contribution stats on user profiles.

Thanks (・–・) \(・◡・)/

[–] 9488fcea02a9@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Also, porn.

Where is this abhorrent content? I need to know so i can avoid it....

[–] Sconrad122@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Is sh.itjust.works not federated with lemmynsfw.com? Or maybe you use a Front page or Local feed. Here on world (no comment on the instance wars), lemmynsfw communities pretty regularly show up on my All feed. Seems like whatever they do with posts over there really makes the "Active" sorter happy, if you know what I mean

[–] Jakeroxs@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago

It definitely was federated back when I made my acct here, as I had to block it lmao.

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

That's what I was wondering. For a while I swear naked images of Rinkunn were more prevalent than The Picard Maneuver. I'm an All user mostly out of curiosity but disappointed that I think world defederated from one of the major furry ones cause that dropped considerably.

Wait, is disappointed the right word? I guess it is, although maybe i just miss their positivity. I'm still cool with hexbear being defederated, after all. Lol

[–] Shapillon@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

Often most of those at the same time.

[–] jaggedrobotpubes@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

Well, reddit has nothing at this point, so it's better than the competition.

[–] 5redie8@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It has its own charm once you get used to it lmao

[–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The charm is why I keep coming back. Especially when it comes to the Lemmy Charm comments for lemmynsfw.com.

[–] benjaminb@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 1 month ago

On Reddit I looked at so many posts on one day, on Lemmy I read like 2 posts but go in the comments much more often. Actually I look at more comments than posts, which I find better!

[–] dual_sport_dork@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

And knives.

And beans.

Don’t forget the No Poop Challenge

It's no different than reddit, DIGG, or the Something Awful forums before they got popular.

[–] Jyek@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Which is why it's based that it wasn't promoted

We need to get more people in here if we want it to actually be a Reddit competitor. Right now it’s good for some communities, but smaller ones are still extremely underpopulated.

[–] JayGray91@fedia.io 2 points 1 month ago

I've seen the moist cat mbin instance being promoted a few times in RedditAlternative before I move here, actually. it's one of my considerations jumping instances actually.

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's good to have some friends, but don't let too many normies in.....

[–] Dil@is.hardlywork.ing 15 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

We reached a point a while ago where yall saying shit like this became the "normies"

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

a while ago where yall saying shit like this became the “normies”

Ohh it's normal for us. But there are still a lot of sports all-consuming, rabble rousing, linux hating, clue collar people still on Reddit, any I don't mind them staying over there.

[–] doodledup@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Nieche communities are very quiet here though.

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 month ago

They are, probably even too quiet. But the level of griefers, bots and trolls is very very low, and selfishly, I REALLY like that.
