The US has been fucking with Canada for a long time before Trump.
We want to get rid of daylight savings time but won't unless Americans follow suit.
The US has literally tried to tunnel underground to steal fresh water from Canada.
American administrations have been notoriously unfriendly to NDP governments and made threats when Saskatchewan elected a far left party, claiming Canada was leaning too far into socialism.
American fuckery (and a shitty PM) killed our aviation industry, leading to a reliance on the states to purchase military aircraft.
Years ago, you guys were gonna decriminalize marijuana, and our government went completely ape shit.
And then we legalized it. Somehow society didn’t crumble.
Only a matter of time until the Trumpet is banning that again too because one of the christofascists whispering in his ear thinks society is crumbling.
They just don’t like anything that can lead to true freedom which is - people being ok with themselves. Can’t sell you a product if you’re ok with yourself.
That is covert sabotage. Which gets largely unnoticed.
Outright economic blackmail to get concessions was something reserved for the neo-colonies.
All that (except daylight savings) and more happened before I was born and I knew about it before graduating highschool. "Covert" is different from "Most Americans don't know."
