Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So, how’s it going?

How do I fake references? Won't I get caught when they try to call?

Got to put on a fake voice. Maybe an impression of an Aussie?

Alternatively, pair up with other job seekers to be each other's references.

Most corporate types start with an online form of some sort, or will be completely online if timezones are a factor.

With regards to calls, ask your closest professional sounding friend to lie for you would be my go to

I have an endless supply of real references so it was more of a hyperthetical question. I'm wondering how prevalent it is though. I've never had to lie to get a job.

Yeah I'm lucky in that regard too tbh, and am now in a position to see it from the other side, an applicant was declined which prompted this post, I know a lot of people who aren't so lucky, especially if you hl can't use your current employer or have a large gap in your work history you can't or don't want to explain
