Bezalel Smotrich, Israel's far-right finance minister, has said that he was given assurances that the war on Gaza would continue and Israel would launch a "gradual takeover of the entire Gaza Strip".

Smotrich said that Gaza was currently "ruined and disintegrated, uninhabitable" an that it would "remain that way".

He added: "Don't be impressed by the forced joy of our enemy. This is an animalistic society that sanctifies death. Very soon, we will erase their smile again and replace it with cries of grief and the wails of those who were left with nothing."

Netanyahu said in a video address on Saturday that Israel would continue its war on Gaza in "new, forceful ways" if the second stage of the ceasefire agreement proved to be "futile".

"President [Donald] Trump and President Biden have given full backing to Israel's right to return to combat if Israel concludes that negotiations on Phase B are futile."

Noone said Trump was going to be better. We said that the Democrats needed to be punished for supporting genocide and Israelis fascism in an effort to make them reconsider that. This is not about winning an immediate political win, as the US has many people quite contempt with supporting a genocide.

However in the long run punishing the Democrats for supporting genocide and Israeli fascism will make the party abandon that position or perish to a better progressive party.

This is why AIPAC gained power in the first place. They established the ability to punish and make the party lose that opposed them. Not to make their supporter win, but to make their opponent lose. This way they made sure that both parties would make the US the little bitch of Israel.

And now that Harris lost, with many voters being alienated because of the Democratic party supporting the genocide and Israeli fascism, AIPAC is doing overtime to downplay the effect Gaza had on the election and Israel has upped its propaganda budget extensively.

We are flipping the script and it is working, but it takes more time. And it takes a look beyond the next election, which is why the propaganda effort for the last election was to make all target audiences of the Democratic party just panick over this election instead of thinking long term. This is not just a play by the Israel lobby but also by the "liberal" side of the Oligarchy that are represented by the Democratic party.

Noone said Trump was going to be better.

No, some people on Lemmy told me that Biden was a known bad, and Harris being a Democrat would be following the party lines, and so is also a known bad.

Trump hadn't waged war against Palestine, so he was an unknown. And an unknown is better than a known bad.

That is what multiple people on Lemmy told me.

I'm willing to bet that the Democrats don't even associate their loss with Israel one bit.

EDIT: Also, there's someone else in another reply to my comment who is saying Trump is better
