Dexter is actually a superhero story. His power is seeing and dispatching evil. He is constantly trying to keep his secret identity from being discovered.

The books are better.
I get that, and I LOVED the show until he got married, and then it was pretty much changed forever. Good seasons after that sometimes, but the character of Dexter became "conflicted", and that just wouldn't ever feel right.
And they NEVER had the Dark Passenger right. That whole mythos would be fun to see explored.
I couldn't stand the actress that played his wife either. couldn't even finish boondocks saints 2 (which was meh anyway) due to her.
