California takes first step in acquiring trains for High-Speed Rail (ktla.com)

California issues an RFQ (Request for Qualifications) in preparation of buying trainsets capable of travelling around 220mph (355km/h), two prototypes, a simulator, spare parts and operational availability for 30 years. Timeline for revenue operation currently is at year 2030.

Oh man, I'd love to just hop on a train from Seattle to the Bay Area. Leg room & naps all the way.

Why stop in the Bay? Imperial Beach is lovely, except in August and September. Then it gets up into the 80s and low 90s
