It appears HTS is now starting fights in the north with the Kurds.
The Kurdish YPG is Erdogan's enemy and Turkeye is the primary HTS backer. So more sectarian infighting and no support for Palestine.
HTS is not attacking the Golan Heights so far. It is all super convenient for Israel.
And they're fighting Hezbolla, and cutting Iran's weapons from getting delivered to Lebanon or Palestine. Netenyahu's wet dream was a secterian fight between arabs and cutting aid to Hezbolla and that's what they accomplished
Do you have a source for this? I've only seen news flashes about clashes with the SNA.
I'm gonna need a diagram to understand who's on which side in this.
And can you circle the good guys in green?
Unlike everyone's favorite settler colonial project Syria is actually complicated morally.
Most of the groups are proxies for other countries.
SDF is directly backed by America and Israel
HTS is backed by Turkey which is a NATO member, but does occasionally do its own thing. It appears to condone Israel for now..
YPG is the Kurds which want their own state.
Assad was Iran backed but is now gone. He was a scumbag, but he did work with Iran against Israel.
The only group which I think is indigenous to the land is the Kurds (YPG) however they want a state in the north-west of Syria and Turkey, not to conquer all of Syria.
All in all nobody really cares Assad is gone. But there is a high chance for sectarian infighting which is exactly what Israel needs right now.
SDF is also a Kurdish led group. Also where did you find the information about SDF being backed by Israel? They don't seem to be.
YPG is also a part of the SDF and US-backed.
