Yeah I don't think Trump thinks about slavery in that context. He's just literally obsessed with money.

I think youre right and he's just trying to give a compliment. He thinks what would be the best thing he can say and it's "I think that thing is worth a lot of money".

Demented autocrat who shouldn't be president but he's just being awkward here, not racist. He is a racist, sure, but he's not behaving racist here. Just awkward.
