I meant to say this yesterday, you've inspired me to get back to doing the plasma donations I used to do until my schedule went to shit a few years back. The final kick in the pants I needed. You're doing good!!

I do wish my donation centre had the yummy food lots of people seem to get though! Last time I was there there WAS the Nippy's milk though, can't go wrong with that I guess! :D

Dunno where you are, but I went to the Brunswick one on Albert St (accessible via Woolies carpark). They built it within the last 2 years or so, so it's all very new and the rest area is really nice.

Edit: and your welcome haha! Everyone should do it if they are willing and able. I wouldn't recommend it to someone who can't for any reason lol. But yeah, it's just a good experience, and a good thing to do. I want to do it more often anyway, my last one before this was a year ago. If you follow their before and after instructions (drinking water and eating what they tell you) it makes for a shorter, better experience! πŸ˜…

Squarkly Bear! That was my local shops for my first 2 years in Melbourne. Before I was gentrified out to Preston.

Hehe I'm literally a 10 min walk away or something lol it's so cool. I like hanging out at the lil park opposite it, between Dangerfield and the Tarot/Massage joint πŸ˜…

Not my neck of the woods, but I'm hearing my closest one has had a bit of a refurb so will find out on the weekend!

The questions and checks were pretty thorough when I first signed up back in the day, to make sure people weren't donating who really shouldn't for some reason - they're very strict on donor welfare which is great. And they always keep an eye on people after their donations, who are sitting around a bit before heading off. Very well run and well managed places in my experience!

Strangely I always felt 'better' afterwards when giving plasma rather than whole blood, but again YMMV!

Oh yeah they still do the in depth questionnaire, and a haemoglobin pinprick test.

And I've read that donating blood/plasma increases endorphins or something? It also makes the body make new blood. Also, apparently, it lessens the viscosity of your blood so reduces the risk of blood clots πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ I guess there's also the feeling of doing something that's just an altruistic, purely good deed, makes you feel good too knowing someone out there is benefitting from your donation πŸ’œ
