Riding a motorcycle is already risky enough without adding obscured vision to the equation. That's where the Bikerguard is designed to come in. It's a visor wiper that can be attached to just about any motorcycle helmet to swipe away the rain.

Fogging has definitely been a bigger problem than rain, though I've only been in strong rain maybe twice and not at highway speeds so I may lack experience.

If it's a strong rain then I would just park the bike and wait when possible. It's already difficult with a car, wouldn't want to risk it in a bike. But yeah if you are going slow in residential area then not as risky other than lack of visibility.
