So where was this BEFORE it came to this point? Even for THIS election.

It’s all well and good people are finally wanting to do something, but fuck the writings been on the walls for decades, kinda hard to feel bad at this point.

In fairness, the group talking about this (Run for something) has existed since 2017 and elected about a thousand progressives in local and state government. They haven't been idle before this, just seems like there's more people interested now

We need everyone we can get now to fight back. The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is today

I think this is the step between supporting the experienced people around you, and feeling that you're ready to take it on yourself

Fine, I'll do it myself

I don't want to hold power i don't want to be the one. It's not something I want to do. BUT if the fucking people i choose don't want to do what I ask them to do i guess I will fucking do it my self.

I imagine a lot of people were supporting people in power currently or thinking the people they were electing were more qualified and were trying. The democratic party with their move to the right shows they don't. This inspires people to do it themselves. There is lots of self doubt and reflection in leftists lives. Someone can do it better someone is more experienced, more qualified, deserving or older. Until people drop the ball enough or rage and revolutionary fires are sparked that is when people do things.

I studied politics, and even then I never wanted to run. I just wanted to be a staffer and work on policy and tactics.

I left politics because I felt I couldn't help people, and inter party politics were not something I was interested in. I went back to school so I could help people more directly as a nurse.

I don't think I'm a great candidate, but I feel like I have to do something. No one is coming to save us, we have to so it ourselves.

The democrats are full of people wanting to do the right thing. They thought that since Harris won as VP, she was an easy out. She obviously wasn't.

Do you guys realize they they're trying to turn us against ourselves so that we don't notice that Trump said to not worry about the election months ago? He wasn't even trying in the last couple of weeks. They have been placing election officials for 4 years. They legally cheated with a fuck ton of propaganda coming from Russia.

Don't fall for the trap or I'm going to put you in with the republicans and democrats that sat this one out. You're being stooges.

I personally think that this election process was an eye opener to many people of what can happen when you decide to protest vote or believe in the faith of others. Now I doubt this many people will stay running for office but like it currently is, and believe this is an image movement more than anything, but like, I do think that it opened everyone's eyes (again) that maybe we shouldn't just sit around and do nothing and let others decide what our best interests are, because it rarely actually matches
