I always wonder when I see these kind of videos - is there anything these guys can do to save their skin? Is there a way to communicate surrender, or were they given the ultimate death sentence?

Anyhow, this bit of curiosity in itself is much more compassion than what this invasive species ever deserved

Staying within their own borders. But yes, there's plenty of drone surrender videos out there too, but of course there's no guarantee that a surrender to a drone is going to work out for a variety of reasons, including getting potentially shot / shelled by your own guys for trying to surrender.

Getting thrown out of the car which is about to get blown up is a way to save your skin, but there is not much for oneself to do to make it happen.

Yes, you put your hands up. Ukraine is known to use drones to bring Russian soldiers to a place where they can be captured.

In a car like this though your best bet would be to jump out of it before doing that.

If they marked their vehicles with a red cross or equivalent they would be protected under the Geneva Conventions
