This is not the rational adult world that I was told I have to adhere to as a child

Seems you can just do whatever the fuck so long as you stay in constant denial about your actions

You shouldn't do spiteful stuff like this; acting with the intent to hurt or offend is almost never a good thing for you or the perceived target.

That said, you also shouldn't adhere to any behavior purely for the sake of normalcy. To the extent that you can safely do so (or are willing to risk your safety), you should be you and express yourself.
