Solution(!) Known issue for some Western digital drives.

Download the dashboard and update the firmware.

Original:

Hello all, Any advice on this would be appreciated.

My brother's build gets the BSOD "Critical Process Died" at random times.

Fresh OS Install I have installed all drivers from MSI B650 -S except for integrated graphics as I have disabled them.

I have stress tested the CPU and GPU and all was good. I run a short ram test and all was good. chkdsk found errors and fixed them. (faulty drive?)

SFC always reports corrupted files even after clean install. (Downloaded new ISO, checked hash)

DISM reports Error: 0x800f081f

I removed the expo profile but the issue persists. Could this be a detached connector? (I do not have physical access to the device.)

Components:

AMD Ryzen 5 7600X

Western Digital SN770

G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo 32GB DDR5

MSI Pro B650-S WIFI Be Quiet Pure Power 12 M 850W

4070 Super Gigabyte

You're welcome, hope it helps. At least you now know what the issue is and can plan accordingly.

I updated the firmware last night and the device has been running smoothly since!

Thanks so much for your help, I was losing my mind. :)
