Denver fairly recently decriminalized mushrooms and I got a grow kit on a whim.

I'm now sitting on a bunch of mushrooms and I don't know what to do. I've got info on microdosing, but I don't know anything else. The last time I had shrooms was at a concert probably 20 years ago and it was just a bag. Given the increased potency of marijuana I'm reluctant to do anything with them. Any guidance would be appreciated!

They're still in a sterile bag. Haven't touched them at all. I'm thinking to just let them bloom and then harvest, but that one on the side is big...

That's a fair approach. I get not wanting to mess with success. If you want to continue growing in the future, consider investing in an SGFC or monotub setup. Both are inexpensive and will allow you to achieve much higher yields.

I'm less interested in more yield at this point. If I eat the cap of the most mature spore is that too much?

I can't give you a direct answer there. Psilocin distribution is not entirely consistent. As another user stated, drying makes predicting the potency more of a possibility.

ETA: The spores are what the mushroom releases. You will likely see a dark stain form beneath that mushroom. That stain will be comprised of thousands of spores. The part that you consume is the mushroom itself.

Addendum: Some modern strains don't drop spores easily. PE-type strains that I have been growing are like this. You gotta do some digging up in them gills with a qtip if you want to attempt to collect any spores if there are any to collect at all.

This varies from strain to strain, of course. For example, the veils break super early on Mac Galactic even though they have a long way to grow. The "feels like a marshmallow" test can be better in cases like this.

Thanks for the info. I've never heard that about PE, but that makes sense given their morphology. Admittedly I have only ever grown more vanilla cubes, so I wouldn't have much knowledge there... The early veils are another new one for me. I agree that test would be more appropriate there.

It's always cool to learn from someone with more information. Thanks for enlightening me.

Anytime! If there is any constant with fungi, it's that there isn't one.
