Does it even make sense?

I know the are alternatives to Google maps, but I like Google. It has the better results when I'm looking for an address or phone number. It has the better routs when navigating... So does it make sense to look for privacy (i don't like being tracked) when I use gmaps?

Let’s hypothetically say that Your laptop has been completely compromised to the maximum level.

Unfortunately for you’ll only have 100$ to fix it, what will you do to get away from the sophisticated individuals who cause you this.

3 conditions:

  1. You can change your physical location once only after fixing the laptop.
  2. You have 100$ budget to guarantee or almost guarantee that you have escaped from them and they can no longer track you from your laptop
  3. You can’t throw away the laptop because you need it and it contains important information and you need to use it for your personal life.

Well, since AnonFiles has sadly shut down, here there any other File-sharing sites that have unlimited storage and zero paid plans?

In the past couple of days, I've become much more concerned about my privacy, but in recent years, I haven't cared at all. I've used my Gmail account for everything, and now I want to remove all the accounts associated with my Gmail. However, I've forgotten what I've created with it. Is there any way to find the accounts associated with my Gmail, and how can I delete all that data?

I am planning to port out my Verizon wireless number. What is the recommended place to park it, Google Voice? Moving forward, I will only start using VoIP services like MySudo due to privacy. But I still need a place to park my decade-old number. Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks

I noticed that on Telegram, there's a bunch of bots that allow you to look up anyone's name and city, and it'll return their full address, SSN, driver's license number, relatives, and much more. Some of them also support retrieving driver's license images or doing license plate lookups.

Most of them claim to use for TLO lookups - but how do so many hackers get access to it if you have to be a licensed business? Why aren't there precautions or checks against this sort of thing? How and why are hackers selling USIS API keys for $1500 each?

As far as I can tell, if someone has my name (or even just my phone / email in some cases), it's pretty much game over. They could literally get anything about me and go through my records for $15 per lookup, which seems to almost make the point of caring about your privacy worthless, since even the smallest leak could result in everything falling apart. This also means you could get the SSN and address of anyone on Facebook, for example.

I opened my truecaller profile with someone's phone that use truecaller, It started showed spam after 2 refreshes. I rarely call anyone apart from friends and family let alone spam. Truecaller is one of the worst.

edit: I don't use truecaller. unlist is an option for people who don't use it and don't want it to show their name against their phone number

The current framework of credit monitoring is so badly broken from a privacy standpoint it's not funny. Now I am told that I can't access my account if I use a "proxy service" to get to their website. I don't know yet if the other bureaus do this, but how soon before privacy is not allowed if you want to get to any website that wants your information? Wh to complain to? Congress doesn't seem to care. As long as it's to "keep us safe"

I know this is best suited for the Apple subs but my post is about data privacy hence why I’m posting here.

2 years ago I broke my iPhone 11 to the point where I can’t navigate through it. The front and back are shattered but it’s still intact and alive. I went to a local repair shop to have it evaluated and they stated that the bluetooth and wifi components are broken as well. Long story short, I went back to the repair shop to take it back because I was worried about them looking through my stuff.

Why do I care about this iPhone? Because it has my data on it. I need to retrieve the data on it but I basically have no screen to look at since it’s broken. I was feeling stuck, either I take it to the local repair shop but have the worried feeling of them stealing my data, or losing my data forever. I then realized, I recently bought a MBP. I can use that to retrieve my data right? Okay cool, I’ll just hook it up. Done.

Wait, now my intrusive thoughts are raining in. What if the local repair shop that I took it too accidentely or even purposefully put some malware or virus on my iPhone? I don’t want to hook that up to my new $2k laptop. I’m really precise and serious with privacy. Can I connect it while being safe?

Is it ok that SIM card provider wants to fill in passport number and even passport photo? Sounds ridiculous to me. Link below:
