Community for requesting code reviews and reviewing code. Honestly surprised we dont already have this in the site

Prompted from this post https://programming.dev/post/6294182

I put the idea here just to gauge interest but as always if youre interested in modding it let me know and I can give you ownership of the community so I have less to manage in the instance

Continuing on my series of providing alternative communities since software gore seems to have gotten a bunch of activity after its creation

Community for posting memes relating to linux

There currently is 1 active community for this in lemmy.world but not all of our federated instances federate with lemmy.world (e.g. beehaw)

Ill be jumpstarting the community with content when it gets made

If someone wants to mod say so down below and I can transfer the community to you

  • url: linux_memes
  • name: Linux Memes

Community for posting software malfunctions

There currently is one main community for this in lemmy in lemmy.world but in the spirit of decentralization and since not all our federated instances are federated with world (e.g. beehaw) would make sense to have an equivalent p.d community

Ill be jumpstarting the community with content when it gets made

If someone wants to mod say so down below and I can transfer the community to you

  • name: Software Gore

As a software developer and digital user I would like a space dedicated to digital accessibility So that I can share resources, best practices, learn and discover things

If needed I can help mod the space.

I think we need a place to share our favorite browser, server, and isomorphic Javascript packages.

I'm happy to moderate this community to kick things off.

Seen some unanswered VM-related posts on other communities so it might be best having those posts/comments here.

  • url: virtual_machines
  • name: Virtual Machines
  • parent community for: vbox, kvm, vmware

I don't mind being mod for the child communities as I've used all 3 listed above but if anyone's willing to help I'd really appreciate it as I'm currently being buried alive by my software-dev course🙃

Ada is a general purpose programming language with emphasis on safe, secure, long-term-living systems. It has an open source compiler (part of GCC), package manager, vscode extension, static analysis tools, etc. It has a small community, but raising trends (about 1% on TIOBE, PYPL).

  • url: ada
  • name: Ada

I'll try to moderate it.

Ludum Dare (programming.dev)

A community for discussion and posting things relating to ludum dare (game jam)

The ludum dare host has a mastodon account to share updates there but theres no space on lemmy for it yet

Normally for a game jam there wouldnt really be enough content to justify a new community but ludum dare has a pretty active community so it can get a nice amount of content every time one rolls around (with things like updates from the host, games shared by participants, the score chasers tournament, stats, etc.)

Apologies if this isn't the right community for this question, but is there a preference for specificity of requested communities?

For example, is it better to submit a request for /c/SpecificTechnologyOrLanguage or /c/CategoryOfTechnology?

The community is mostly inspired from the Pangora posts. I felt like a community for projects in general might be interesting.

Linux Upskill Challenge (programming.dev)

I'm interested in moving r/linuxupskillchallenge here to continue to give support and discussion for those following the month-long "Linux Upskill Challenge" course. The material covers the skills required to sysadmin a remote server from the commandline.

url: linuxupskillchallenge

name: Linux Upskill Challenge

It's a tightly modded community already in the channels we have available, so I'd be happy to mod it here too.

Battlestations (programming.dev)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by Ategon@programming.dev to c/community_request@programming.dev

A place to post and show off your desktop setups.

Theres a battlestation community on lemmy.world but as lemmy.world doesnt federate with some instances that participate here figure it makes sense to make one here and to give an alternative community for people to participate in other than the one in lemmy.world (like we did with programmer humor and lemmy.ml)

Upvote if youre interested in having it here. If you want to be a mod reply saying so below

  • slug: battlestations
  • name: Battlestations
