Other than one prototype unit, however, the locomotive was never produced. By 1850, steam was clearly king, and any horse-powered railways outside of streetcar operations were on the way out. Thus, the Impulsoria became nothing more than a strange curiosity of an early railway engine.

After screening thousands of drugs, researchers have found an antibiotic that completely eliminates the bacteria that causes Lyme disease in c/science@lemmy.ml

Researchers tested the drug, not yet on the market, in mouse models of Lyme disease at seven-day, 14-day, and 21-day intervals and found that it eliminated the infection. For the first time, azlocillin also proved effective in killing drug-tolerant forms of B. burgdorferi in lab dishes, indicating that it may work as a therapy for lingering symptoms of Lyme disease.

Researchers plan to conduct a clinical trial.
