People today believe magic crystals can cure cancer or curse someone. There's always been dipshits. 🀷

Quantum entanglement... but with skin

Quantum skintanglement

If only I knew how to crosspost. The world building and TTRPG communities would love this.

In the web browser there should be this button:

Let me know if you can't figure it out, and I'll be happy to crosspost.

I'm thinking immune response rejection was probably an issue

If both of you start to experience rejection of the tissue, that just means pain projection is working as intended!

The listed sources are from the 19th century... I wonder if anybody ever did this, or it's just apocryphal.

People are so dumb. Why not binary for way less skin?

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 16 points 7 months ago (3 children)

Binary takes up way more space when written out. Because binary translates to numbers, and those numbers will need to be translated into characters, the two people would need to settle on a common character set to ensure that messages can be properly decoded and not end up with the black diamond question mark symbol. Personally, I like UTF-8, but it might not be the best choice because some characters may take up much more space than others, resulting in a potential buffer overflow.

Yeah way more space written out but way less skin.

I think we’re missing the obvious. No one can timely speak binary or other like that and the convenience is a selling point.

A few different skin locations may make more sense then a meat keyboard. A stab above the left knee= danger

I could also reason that a scam should use a preys language but I can’t imagine what a scammer would get out of selling this operation.

That's because you don't have skin in the game

[–] irreticent@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

We're overthinking this. The real reason they didn't use binary is because it wasn't invented yet back in the 17th century.

In reflection maybe this entice comment chain except the first 4 words are overthinking. we could have left it at.

β€œPeople are so dumb”

[–] Kowowow@lemmy.ca 1 points 7 months ago

If it popped up now days I bet if it started as binary in would be simplified to morse code, it would even look like a dot and dash

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 16 points 7 months ago (2 children)

If this shit worked, we wouldn't have smartphones; we'd just have our friends, family and coworker's skin grafted and tattooed on our bodies.

[–] kromem@lemmy.world 30 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I'd still prefer the smartphone, personally.

[–] SendMePhotos@lemmy.world 4 points 7 months ago (1 children)

...I'll take the alternative.

"Would you fuck me? I'd fuck me."

Goodbye horses...

[–] circasurvivor@lemm.ee 6 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I remember I was still young enough when Myspace came out, being in someone's top 8 or whatever was a big deal... having your skin graft removed from someone's arm would have been devastating.

[–] irreticent@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

I always felt bad for my friends that still had Tom in their top 10.

[–] mvirts@lemmy.world 8 points 7 months ago

Well... did it work? 😹

[–] decadentrebel@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

Love this submission. Never heard of it, and I've read it twice already and still can't get what they were trying to achieve, lol.
