Why is anyone still using Twitter at this point?
Beats the fuck out of me. I've just warned 4 people I know who're still on it. Two of them I expect will and have switched to alts I've suggested them to. One already outright deleted. The last one isn't concerned because "long as I don't post my personal info, things are okay!". It's like, dude, just being on a platform and knowing what you stand for is going to be exploited by assholes on that platform. Save yourself the headache and just hop off.
Oh boy. RIP his mentions.
I almost wanna bet that he's gonna be the only one with the feature still on
Oh, so now we have to see the mysterious new "opposing party tweets" that have started showing up no matter what, huh? That should really make the destruction complete.
What a brilliant use of 44 billion. There could not have been anything better done with that money...
I never used twitter, but doesn't this "block" feature block other people from seeing your tweets? So the "mute" feature that is maintained is what we see as "block" in other services like lemmy, right? As in you block who u don't want to see.
And they also can't send you message. Block is important for every minorities groups, because there's always far-right supporters who want to harass them
I used to be Twitter, but dropped it years ago. Block allowed you to prevent people from commenting on your tweets as well as prevented you from seeing them or them seeing your tweets. They could obviously logout and view your tweets anonymously, but the most important benefit was if you have a nasty creep/stalker/asshole posting vile comments on your tweets, if you block them, they can't do that any more. And believe me, even 8 years ago when I was still on Twitter (let alone now in this political environment) trolls were rampant.
