Holy fuck this is pretentious. This right here? This preachy bullshit? This is why conservatives constantly make fun of us.

Pretend this is an insightful, yet misguided rebuttal that misses the point of the OP.

[–] PRUSSIA_x86@lemmy.world 46 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Pretend that OP had his fragile ego damaged by your stupid, inane, misguided, stupid take >:(

[–] runner_g@lemmy.blahaj.zone 20 points 10 months ago

So brave, yet so true. Bravo, OP.

[–] DerArzt@lemmy.world 37 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Man I never thought of it that way, my whole world just shifted 180 degrees

C or F? Either way that's really hot

[–] blackouttripleseven@lemmy.blahaj.zone 32 points 10 months ago (1 children)

this image goes hard. feel free to screenshot

[–] Kiwi_Girl@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 10 months ago (1 children)

But does screenshotting the image subtract from the impact of its intended message?

[–] lugal@sopuli.xyz 6 points 10 months ago

I disagree with the whole premise of the image. An image that only contains of text? Is this the future we want for our country?

I think this could do with being rewritten in Rust.

Omy, why use this, when you could be using NewPipe?

[–] phuntis@sopuli.xyz 8 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (4 children)

because newpipe sucks and is stuck a decade or more in the past ui wise so everything's ugly and really hard to navigate it constantly crashes just opening a video it completely disregards levels of privacy people might want like not allowing people to sign in for just a sub feed and then watching the videos unsigned in which would still be more private than the youtube app so you have to do it locally so their terrible web scraper system can take 5 minutes to refresh your sub feed during which time you can't use the app at all and it doesn't even catch every video newpipe is genuinely terrible use revanced

[–] Smorty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It works, it's FOSS and it has some pretty cool features. I have like 42 subs, so it takes like 1.4 seconds. Do you have better FOSS alternatives? I am open for recommendations! But I don't wanna have to sign in with Google.

Alright, you know what? This is ridiculous. This image—this image wants me to pretend it's interesting. Pretend? I don't have to pretend anything. You know what's interesting? The fact that someone took the time to make this! That someone, somewhere, thought, "Hey, you know what the world needs? A big block of text that tells people how to feel about it." That's not just interesting; that's hilarious! It's like telling a joke and then explaining why it's funny. The sheer audacity, the unmitigated gall of this image to demand our interest—it's almost admirable. But here we are, discussing it! So, joke's on us, I guess? -Lewis Black

I’ve been vegan for a decade. You just changed my mind.

[–] Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 18 points 10 months ago

I just turned vegan because of your reply, out of pure spite.

[–] Deme@sopuli.xyz 19 points 10 months ago

I wonder what makes me more mad: this, or the fact that we're not going to do shit about it unless there's money to be made.

[–] N0body@sh.itjust.works 18 points 10 months ago

I find it to be derivative and banal, because I am very important and sophisticated and everything should always be about me. Look at me being smart on the internet. I'm a very special boy.

[–] beizhia@lemmy.world 15 points 10 months ago

Love the creativity here. This is the kind of stuff I hope to see more of on lemmy

[–] burgermeister@lemm.ee 13 points 10 months ago (1 children)

How dare you; I don't want to be"that guy" who yells at people on the Internet for expressing their opinions, but what the fuck.

Hmm you think so? Personally, I think that it makes more sense to share what is there, and not keep it for yourselves... Or was that what you were implying?

Big if true. This image lack any sources. I'm not the one to question everything, but I refuse to engage in assumptions as such.

Why do I need to pretend that this post is interesting? I mean, isn’t it? By its nature, it’s an intriguing idea. Give a group of commenters a task, and see the reactions. Will they disagree? Call you out? Ignore you? Or in this case, we’ve seen more interaction than your average post, with the comment to vote ratio being higher than most, and many of them expressing themselves in some wildly different ways. Ultimately, there is no need to pretend this post is interesting, because in my opinion, it actually is.

I thought I had a well-balanced world view until I read this post and the discussions in the comments section. Thank you for expanding my view.

I use the Private DNS feature in Android to block ads system-wide. It works great and I can avoid this.

It is deeply inspiring what this oevre tells us about the dialectics of meaning developing between a post and it's audience. Even with no inherent meaning the picture unfurls the deepest human desire to connect and to form communities, especially in disconnecting times and virtual places of refuge from it.

No I'm not going back to reddit. I will stand with you, withstanding the most selfreferential, the most empty, in hope of a we to fill that void.

[–] snazzles@lemm.ee 10 points 10 months ago

Low key kinda is as it's showing the human desire to engage in random, meaningless conversation with little to no prompting.

There's probably studies about photos like these.

[–] arisunz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 10 months ago

when is this gonna end?? i get that we're in the middle of the greatest femboy shortage the world has ever seen but this is too much even for me.

[–] aldalire@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 10 months ago

Man i will sacrifice my left nut for your cause

[–] nifty@lemmy.world 9 points 10 months ago

OP brings up a good point, I am stoked to discuss.

[–] ObviouslyNotBanana@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago

I don't think that's true at all! Why would you even suggest such a thing??

[–] NRDK@lemmy.ml 8 points 10 months ago

Absolutely astonished by this new information!

[–] Whisper06@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 10 months ago

This brings me back.

[–] Kase@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago

This right here. This is everything that's wrong with Hollywood.
