There's a point when running a scam that's very successful where you have to produce something to keep the marks hooked.

The folks working on Star Citizen are masters at this. Absolute pros. It's simply a marvel to watch em work.

And then you try talking to one of their fans/marks, and you just have to step away from the keyboard. The frothy gymnastics are, especially at this point, just sad. πŸ˜…

I found the comment section of this video incredibly sus. Everyone speaks perfect english and has only the highest of praises. Quite a few were even β€œin tears” while watching the video.

The engine is holding the entire world together really well, I mean it's unbelievable it's all in realtime and at that massive scale. I really liked the water physics part too. Feels really good.

However, idk if it's just me but the materials, foliage and terrains do look bit last gen. I'm not sure if it's just texture work or dx11 related limitations or lack of use of photogrammetry that we otherwise see in contemporary games. It's a nitpick and of course the engine is doing stuff that we've never seen ever.
