Begin typing. Realize it's not worth the glucose. < Discard

No, you have to type the whole post out. Re-read it to bask in the insightfulness, and correct the usage errors and autocorrects. Then decide that you’ve said your peace, and don’t really want some numbnut responding with a poorly thought out, single sentence reply. Delete the text, knowing you had the chance to vent.

Then go find another post and do the same. At 5pm you can then close your browser, look at your desk, and wonder why you didn’t get any work done that day.

The single biggest missing feature of Lemmy is a "disable inbox replies" button

spell one easy word wrong "Y'know what. Maybe I'm the idiot today" delete post

I’ve found that the smaller size of Lemmy both gets me to comment more, and gets me to abandon more iffy comments when a single upvote seems more significant here than on certain similar huge websites.

The contrarians are still here in large numbers even given the smaller community sizes. No one can see your account score anyway, I think the factor most affecting my posting is my small voice is much louder here

[–] Kwakigra@beehaw.org 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

No they aren't. There aren't any contrarians on the Fediverse. I'm going to need you to cite your sources.

[–] Zink@programming.dev 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Your total score is 766, my friend. ;)

It still doesn’t matter, but you can see it if you want.

[–] __ghost__@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 year ago

Your numbers have no power over me friend

Good to know it's viewable somewhere lol

[–] chicken@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 year ago

Am contrarian can confirm

[–] Lophostemon@aussie.zone 4 points 1 year ago

I’ve abandoned the value of upvotes anyway and just say shit that I find funny. Not nasty stuff, just like purposely missing the point or trolling like I’m stupid or something. It causes no harm and it’s not like I’m missing out on money.

I like that upvotes and downvotes mean nothing here other than for that single comment.

[–] can@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Me too! Be warned though, at least half the apps seem to want to throw an aggregate at you.

[–] samus12345@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Yup, but since there's no consistency, nobody cares about it.

[–] Track_Shovel@slrpnk.net 19 points 1 year ago (3 children)

And woe to the lowly commentator who suggests a middle opinion, this sparking the ire of both A and B.

Don't threat me with a good time

[–] MedicPigBabySaver@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'll give you a better time!

[–] meyotch@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 year ago

I draw the line at being the middle of no more than five people. Otherwise it gets weird.

[–] Sotuanduso@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Oh, a centrist, are ya? Get 'em, lads!

Oh Christ. I got harangued a couple months ago for suggesting that a dude maybe didn’t hear another dude in a loud environment. πŸ™„

the number of textareas that i have closed for the betterment of humanity outweighs my actual postings by orders of magnitude
