Not surprised, even a hundred years ago Edward Bernays (author of the OG book Propaganda, and considered father of marketing and public relations) open on the first chapter saying how the average citizen doesn't have the mental capacity to be aware of the full context that affects his day to day and the desicions one should or not make.

The evil part is when his solution is to create a secret hand that guides the average citizen into what a small group decided is the best option.

THE conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country
