As a DM of many years I've collected battle maps, and I could post them here to fill the community with content. This issue is I did not make them, and I wondered how the community felt about posting them here.

Here's an idea of how to do it ethically:

  1. Include their watermark (obviously)
  2. Include a link to their socials (this one might he hard for me since my only socials are Mastodon and Lemmy)
  3. Ask the creator for explicit consent (this one would be extremely difficult, as above. Additionally, the creator may not exist anymore.)

Any thoughts? I didn't see rules in the sidebar so I figured to just ask. Thanks!

Not a mod, just a community member's opinion.

Generally art communities allow posting stuff you found. If you put a link to their gallery or Patreon that would be ideal. The watermark should get you there 90% of the time anyway.

I don't see any reason you would need their permission to post something you found freely online.

Ah okay. Most communities I was apart of most of the uploaders were the creators themselves promoting their work.
