Why does this stance always smell of Chinese astroturfing?
No, china isn't someone we should crawl futher into bed with.
No thank you.
How about no. We should not embrace any economic ties whatsoever with nations who are idealogically and politically incompatible with our own.
What nations do you view as ideologically and politically compatible with Canada? Is your end goal preservation of the Canadian status quo vis a vis capitalist electoral democracy?
How bout we just do what's right and good and not sacrifice our humanity, decency, privacy, and sovereignty.
People who always want more are the reason many people don't have enough.
China is an economic answer.
It is not a moral one.
Neither is the US.
And let's not pretend we are saints, our gov has always been shadowed by open secrets of moral terpitude.
Maybe we can just be better and focus on doing good here with what we have and let others forge ties with us.
I'm glad someone mentioned it's possible and needs to be considered.
That said, if we come to rely on them it would be trading one authoritarian nationalist bully for another. Europe is equally powerful and actually shares our values.
Edit: Can someone repost this? It's paywalled.
I wonder how wealthier Canadians feel about intellectual property laws with regard to manufacturing power houses like China.
I will gladly embrace China as soon as they embrace human rights and maybe cut back on the genocide a little.
Let’s not and say we did?
As soon as I read the title and noted the magazine, I already knew the reaction this article would receive. It doesn't matter, if it penetrates the fog of illusion for one.
