hell yeah
What changed is that right-wingers managed to convince people that Lex Luthor is not a villain but an aspirational figure.
Same reason they like Homelander.

Fucking James Gunn filled the new Superman with so much woke crap it broke the space-time continuum!
"PBS didn't go woke, you grew up to be a shitty person."
type shit
shit
good user
Currious also, I think a lot of people are forgetting... in 1946, the superman radio show actually had a 16 episode plot called "the clan of the firey cross", in which superman is protecting a Chinese american family, from a clan of evil doers in white hoods. Not only was the group an unsubtle reference to the KKK, but thanks to a mole in the KKK named Stetson Kennedy, it even used real world up to date for the time secret code words from the actual KKK.
There’s a book and podcast about Superman vs the Klan.
Klan members woke up one day to kids playing superman outside and using the Klan’s secret call signs and handshakes, etc. turns out the writers had an insider who revealed all the Klans secret society shit and they put it on the show to make fun of the Klan.
Just saw it, it was a really solid Superman movie. Superman did Superman things against Lex Luthor and acted as Superman acts since his inception.
Somehow this has people upset.
I went in expecting it to be awful, but it might be my new favorite Superman movie. I really enjoyed it.
I think the only issue was it was just 2 hours so all the things could only be touched on. But for those 2hrs I'd say it was executed quite well.
You know your society is psychologically burnt to a crisp when positive values and empathy can't even be "pushed" through fiction, lol.
"My brothers, do not commit the sin of Empathy!"
I enjoyed the movie.
If being kind to others is too woke, so be it. But the people who believe that can fuck right off.
I look forward to a day when I can stare one of them in the face, have them ask me for some sort of help or support, and then I tell them to fuck off.
Because I'm not Superman.
what exactly is upsetting people about Superman?
Turns out he's an undocumented immigrant with a weird foreign sounding name (Kal El) and he was going around acting like he was an American by the name of Clark Kent. We can't have that!
But but but he speaks the language
And he is white!
No alien is ever white!
From what I can tell, that he’s a decent person.
MAGA takes issue that Superman's Homelander rating is 0 out of 10.
The director of the new film framed the character as an illegal immigrant in the promotional junket.
Sure but it's not like it's the first time. Freakin Smallville (the TV show) had a similar plot one season.
Superman hasn't changed much. Our society has become more reactionary in response to the least bit of progress.
Of course it wasn't the first time. Superman has been an illegal immigrant since its conception after a couple of in-house iterations.
The previous narratives at least allowed for some form of limited ethical considerations, but even that is too radical nowadays in the US...
excellent crop ä/10
