I really hope their EVs don't turn out to be internal combustion with fudged testing capabilities. ;)

It was just charging infrastructure and reasonable range designs that were needed all along?! Who could've seen that coming.

Noooooooo! Demand for electric vehicles is falling! Companies are cutting back on production! Gas and ooooooiiiiilllllllll!!!!

European EVs doing well in EU. Headlines so far this year has been surge of Chinese EVs in EU, but EU doing better.

Maybe if Iโ€™m very very good theyโ€™ll bring the electric GTI to the states.

Electric what now?

Didn't know what I was missing.

[โ€“] espentan@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Grand Touring Injection, but now it injects electricity!

Can you turn off the phoning home yet?

[โ€“] neons@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Better, you can replace it with the open source OVMS

From what I'm seeing only the vw eUP has any traction in the ovms forums. Are there other places discussing and implementing ovms on cars I.e. the ID. Buzz?

Just like with phones, all you need to do is remove the battery

"Gains in South America and Europe more than compensated for the expected declines in China and North America," said Marco Schubert, member of the extended VW Group Management Board.

In Germany, Volkswagen is a market leader with almost every second new electric car registered in Germany in the first half of the year from the company.

The prices are just off the walls these days though. I want a california but will not spend 85k on it. Same with the ID7 tourer.

I want an electric micro van so bad ๐Ÿ˜” but I hate the look of the the buzz. And I've lived out of a VW before.

Just put me more forward in the cockpit plz

[โ€“] Zwiebel@feddit.org 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You can't sit more forward because of crash safety

[โ€“] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

I can too.

This is the van I had a reserve down on before they went bust: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgAghyLo4os

I want visibility. I want to be able to see whats happening in front of me in a vehicle. I don't want a dash sitting on my lap.

aahaha corona phase flashbacks =D Everyone knew it was bubbles, right?

i wouldn't confuse Nikola with canoo.

Canoo actually got to having a vehicle, and it was at a very reasonable price point and was a very compelling vehicle.

I think the real issue they hit was that they didn't look like a 100:1 return in investment, and for predatory capitol, thats all they'll fund. I think they found themselves needing funds exactly when inflation was going nuts.

I mean at the end of the day these are car manufacturers. it's a shit ton of work to design and engineer and the produce a car. And they can't be that expensive or people just don't buy them. So the margins are kinda crap.

That little front windows is adorable. It's really cool how much innovation EVs brought but its yet to be widely available :(

So I lived out of something like this for a bit:

and what I love about that era of micro vans is the visibility. I feel like cannoo reall'got' what it was that made those vans so special, and it's that when you are travelling, you can see everything and it feels like you are really on tour.

I was really bummed they went out of business.

[โ€“] jabjoe@feddit.uk 4 points 2 days ago

You looked at the Berlingo? A lot cheaper....

[โ€“] alsimoneau@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 days ago

I just and an eGolf with a decent range.

[โ€“] bluGill@fedia.io 3 points 2 days ago

We test droveithe buzz. Very nice van, but I can't see paying that price.

Then get an eqv / eVito? Or an e-spacetourer / e-traveller?

[โ€“] blackn1ght@feddit.uk 2 points 2 days ago

I think the buzz looks kinda cool, but the range is terrible from what I recall.

[โ€“] Samskara@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 days ago

There are kits and companies that convert old VW T4 and such into electric vehicles.
