If you find an injured owl:

Note your exact location so the owl can be released back where it came from. Contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitation specialist to get correct advice and immediate assistance.

Minimize stress for the owl. If you can catch it, toss a towel or sweater over it and get it in a cardboard box or pet carrier. It should have room to be comfortable but not so much it can panic and injure itself. If you can’t catch it, keep people and animals away until help can come.

Do not give food or water! If you feed them the wrong thing or give them water improperly, you can accidentally kill them. It can also cause problems if they require anesthesia once help arrives, complicating procedures and costing valuable time.

If it is a baby owl, and it looks safe and uninjured, leave it be. Time on the ground is part of their growing up. They can fly to some extent and climb trees. If animals or people are nearby, put it up on a branch so it’s safe. If it’s injured, follow the above advice.

First time seeing the Buffy Fish Owls sunning themselves on the grass/granite floor. Interesting behaviour! (15/6/25, Hampstead)

That would be good for a side scrolling fighter! Owl Steroids! 💪 🦉

Yes! As you level up you can choose progressively bigger owls to play as.

Yeah, I am always forgetting my owls in the sun.

[–] anon6789@lemmy.world 8 points 11 hours ago

If they wouldn't make them so quiet and in colors that blend in, it'd be a whole lot easier to remember.

A nice sunbath is important to birds though. Preening oil contains vitamin D precursors that are converted to D3 by sunlight. Then when they go to preen again, they ingest some of that vitamin D. Or they just want some extra warmth or to shake out those feathers. There are a bunch of reasons for them to enjoy it.

Victorian Jncos... 😅

Now I'm thinking of Nathan For You when he lured drunks into the narrow antique shop with free pizza to bolster the You Break It - You Buy It policy.

Ha ha, what did I just watch.

[–] anon6789@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

It's a unique show, for sure! He has another show, The Rehearsal, that I haven't checked out yet that sounds like it was developed after some of the prep work they did making Nathan For You, trying to figure out how people will react to different situations.

It is..... Very interesting? Very unique look on life? I'm still unsure what to think about The Rehearsal.
