That's a noble goal, to stop teenage suicide. At least, stop suicide by guns. Pills, hanging, idk. It's certainly something a teen would do out of immediate opportunity.

What I find weird is they can sign up at 18 to be in the military and kill hundreds in the name of oil companies. With guns. They're obviously smart and reasonable enough to make the decision to end other people's lives. We trust their judgement enough in Afghanistan, but not at home.

I don't know that there's a perfect solution. I just know that this seems inconsistent, and the government is happy with inconsistencies as long as they benefit.

Teenagers are known for making snap bad decisions; this is commonly held to be due to their hormones fucking with their emotions, combined with a lack of life experience with which to put things into perspective. Allowing them to be near guns almost never ends well, mostly ends neutrally, and sometimes ends in horrible tragedy. It's the last one there we're trying to avoid by removing unnecessary opportunity, while balancing that against personal freedom.

You can carry a literal machine gun for your country, but you can't buy a hunting rifle.

I'm not sure how I feel about this law, but I will say that I got a FUCKLOAD of safety training and practice with that firearm that you simply aren't required to have when you buy a firearm at your local Walmart. It's not quite the same.

I’m against this. Every fetus should be issued a handgun, assault rifle, and shotgun. As a right. Kindergartens need to stop with liberal letters and woke colors—they should be teaching kids how to turn your safety off and how to clean your barrel! Guns save lives, and stop bad guys, so we need more guns!
