Mostly unpacked now from moving to Caithness. It's been a long week of fixing things the previous owners left broken. Still loads more, but I'm planning on spending the weekend being a hermit and playing video games like it's my job. Sure not exciting, but I'd like to forget about the £1200 I spent on a plumber this week.

On the plus side the weather has been stunning!

Alcohol helps with forgetting I find. And that's some plumbing indeed. Have you gotten out in the evenings yet? Extra sunlight means extra time to enjoy outdoors

Not as much as I should to be honest. I may have enjoyed a few drams this week while looking out at the view though. Thankfully we have a lovely conservatory that looks out at Dunnet Head. Might have a venture out soon it should be glorious this weekend!

Had a colleagues birthday party on Friday/last night and he's over from NY doing a year at our office. I showed up right at 7PM because I assumed in a new city he might not know many people and there were like 20 people there already including 5 friends that had flown over from NY. Over the course of the evening there were well over 100 people in the hired room!

Decent party but I have no idea how this dude knows so many people after 6 months in town. I deleted my facebook years ago because I was certain I never had more than 10 friends at any given time.

That's the American factor. They do service better, networking better, and advertising better. This guy probably "met" maybr half of them, but cause of his 'reach' has great attendance. But who disnae want tae gang tae that party!

I think it's exactly this. My Scottish brain took a while to parse it.

Lol maybe more acquaintances rather than friends? Or he's a really good pal!!

[–] steeznson@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Yeah when I spoke to various folks a lot of them had only met him once before.

Waiting on news about the Kosmos482. Other than that will probably explore some trails I've not walked.

It probably came down in the Indian Ocean. Given how tough it was built it's probably intact somewhere down there.
