Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

Just to give a shout out to my boss when I worked as a mechanic, I'd like to say "get the fuckin' torch. She's hogged up tighter than a nuns cunt" and also a "she shakes like a sick whore shiting blood". Lastly, I'll add "fuck you shit whore fucking cunt"

Duane, you made amazing progress in the world of profanity and you were an amazing mentor.

Thank you.

Fucking piece of shit, which previous mechanic put threadlocker on this bolt!?

Ohh wait that's me. Piece of shit car!

[–] over_clox@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

LOL, I've actually used thread locker before on my past vehicles, and still never had as much issue as trying to loosen and remove nuts and bolts from someone else's neglected vehicle.. ☹️

Loosen isn't an issue, it's when i want to spin it out with my hand because there's no clearance for tools or socket or ratchet and i have to spin it little by little with a spanner that i wish i anti-seize it instead, yet it's the bolt/nut i wouldn't want it to break loose while the vehicle is operating, so all i can do is bitch and whine while doing the work. But then it's way better than a rusted bolt lol

I think if you work in any mechanical shop this comes with the territory.

Playing the 10 mil game.

Not a mechanic, but I work from home and my wife gauges how busy I am by the intensity and frequency of the swearing. Post checks out.

my cousin, who conveniently lives next door to me has been a mechanic for probably 30+ years and i can confirm excessive amounts of cursing being involved in any car maintenance.

Literally why I didn't want to change my car headlight yesterday, also can confirm it was a bitch and bit my knuckle and received choice verbage.

ITT: I learn that despite never even attempting to fix a car ever in my life, I'm a natural mechanic.

I've got plenty enough ~~hours~~ years under both fields to confidently admit, cursing comes with basically any field of repair.

I worked on computers for years and I can confirm that fixing software and I can confirm many vulgar epithets coming out of my mouth.
