EDIT: @mindbleach@sh.itjust.works shared something that might help to circumvent this shit:

Contained in these parentheses is a zero-width joiner: ()

Basically, add those to whatever you feel that might be filtered out, then remove the parentheses. The content inside the parentheses is invisible, but it screws with regex rules.

No one regrets getting banned from nazi digg.

[–] lvxferre@mander.xyz 12 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I don't regret being banned from the fly [Reddit] licking the Nazi shit [Twitter]. But I think it's important for people advertising Lemmy there to know.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 points 5 days ago

all the right wingers that got butthurt from youtube, reddit fled to facebook, because it gives them admin privileges, i had one that fled to fb, and try to bring down a sub by having his incel supports from youtube brigade the sub,(sub is mostly partially unmoderated.) it was a bunch of asian poc youtube channel, what a "disgrace" by siding with someone like that in the whitehouse/

[–] ToiletFlushShowerScream@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago (2 children)

OMG, Nazi Digg. Can I borrow that?

[–] aeternum@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 6 days ago

As long as you give it back :)

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

By all means.

[–] lka1988@lemmy.dbzer0.com 25 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

That's not a shadowban, that's a straight up suspension.

A shadowban is just when your posts and comments are filtered and hidden from others.

[–] lvxferre@mander.xyz 13 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (2 children)

Yes, it is a shadowban. It fits perfectly what you said: the posts and comments are filtered and hidden from the others.

Here is another proof that this is a shadowban:

Left: the content is shown to the user when they're logged in, and they can still submit new content.

Right: the content is not shown to someone who is logged off.

On the other hand, a typical suspension leaves the content visible for everyone else, it tells the user "you've been permanently suspended from Reddit [insert gaslighting message]", and the user cannot submit new content.

Note that a shadowban is considerably worse than a suspension. Not that I care, though - I'm sharing this here because it is relevant for people trying to convince others to migrate to the Fediverse.

Oh that's weird. I just got straight-up banned the other day for saying something bad about Nazis 😂

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 3 points 6 days ago

i keep hearing how the obvious bots are trying to sanewash trump, or nazis in general by saying, its dangerous to keep calling trump facist or a nazi, and it says it "normalizes him"

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 1 points 5 days ago

and a nazi complained about a sub, and that got sub can banned, hmm seems spez is in league with said nazi.

[–] lvxferre@mander.xyz 2 points 6 days ago (2 children)

How do you dare? You're as intolerant as them if you don't let them invade your spaces! 🙄

Serious now. I got a ban similar to yours years ago. "Multiple, repeated violations of the policies" = I told a self-identified Nazi to shoot himself. (10/10, great laughs were had at the butthurt Nazi. Would do it again.)

[–] lka1988@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 6 days ago

Fuck Nazis, fuck the KKK, and I'm not selling my wife's gun at this point. Too much at stake.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 points 6 days ago

thats the general notice from reddit, when they ban all your accs at once, even old ones you stopped using. its a bot doing it. i had like multiple accounts, each one for a specific niche, or sub, including throwaways, those in the niche subs(never gone on political or news subs) still got targeted. its mostly like whatisthisplant, or this medical issue.

Fuck Reddit, they banned me because I reported discrimination and it was easier to get rid of the whiner than do their jobs.

Now I can't talk nerdshit about The Sims anymore

[–] secret300@lemmy.sdf.org 12 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

Get the sims community started on Lemmy. Try to convince some people to join

[–] Hupf@feddit.org 2 points 4 days ago

Gwanda blitz!

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 5 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

did they say you reported too much? on several accs, i had either a temp ban from that sub, or instant lecture from a mod, saying "you cant report this person, just because you dont like his comment" i was thinking then, what is a reportable offense, like its spamming/botting, isnt that reportable, like do you want me to engage and argue, which makes its worst?. my most recent one which got me the recent ban was "you can report this much in this sub, and we think you are "brigading" so we are temporarily banning you sitewide, which triggered the sites AI bot to ban multiple accounts sitewide without giving a reason. how can you say you are fighting botting/spamming from countries like RU when your MODS, and admins are banning the reporter. turns out your site needs the RU bots, simply because they make close to half of comments and engagement in certain communities.

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Thing is they didn't warn me or anything, they just jumped to the perma ban and I had to find out from numerous appeal attempts where Inever got a non-bot response

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 1 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

i reported similar issues, either botting/or something totally untrue, and what they said was" oh you had made too many reports, we are now suspending your whole account temporarily, i deleted the acct. i dont think they warned anyone of a random ban, thats why i said it was pretty indiscriminate, they just want any amount of acc banned, so they can show to thier potential investors, its a clean site. i appealed on each of my other accts that perma ban all denied, by a bot, obviously. i think it auto-denies if its been sitewide banned

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Temp? Mine was perms...

Auto-Denies eh? That explains why I hadn't heard from anyone. Didn't even get a deny message really.

It was actually my second perma-ban, I had one before in which I badmouthed Gina Carano, stating that I disagreed with her transphobia and was happy she was gone from the show....

I had been mass-reported for threatening to kill Gina Carano, and clearly it was a bot that just saw the volume of reports, I was unbanned within minutes of sending an appeal because it's pretty easy to see that I said nothing of the sort, it was just Right-Wing Trolls.

I got Right Wing Trolls A LOT, they'd also mass report any post where I pointed out I was trans (regardless of context) for "Advocating for suicide and self-harm."

I must have gotten the "A concerned redditor has reached out to us and we wanted to let you know there's help out there...." message more often than actual ban messages.

They really should have thought of investors before becoming "Banishment: The Website", not gonna be easy to sell a product no one's allowed to actually use...

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

i think you were brigaded(a large amounts of people that mass report someone to get them banned) right wingers/trolls will do this. some mods are very anal about how you report"did they respond to your comment" or "dint bother commenting and just reported someone.

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Nope, I heard not a damn thing from Reddit

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 1 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

yea once you get reported in large numbers its probably very hard to defend yourself, because these right wing trolls are using multiple different accounts. because the mods/filters are going to assume"oh its a bot trolling"

on a side note: i was "wretched" when people were defending gina carano on a youtube channel where she was a characther in deadpool"saying disney ruined her career"

[–] Stern@lemmy.world 15 points 6 days ago

I'd imagine in that particular case it felt like spam. If someone came through here and was named Nick_From_Nike and only posted in threads related to Nike and only positively about Nike, I feel like many would quirk a brow.

Are we seeing shadowbans with established accounts that don't have lemmy in their username? Considering r/redditalternatives is still going strong, seems unlikely.

[–] ehpolitical@lemmy.ca 7 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

Good, I was getting fed up with being told over there that Canadians are useless and can't make a difference... this just tells me they're worried because we ARE making a difference🍁

[–] Corno@lemm.ee 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Woah...Reddit is anti-Canada? Honestly Reddit has always given me bad vibes, and from the sounds of things it's just getting worse...

[–] ehpolitical@lemmy.ca 4 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

Not sure where they're all coming from, but there's this group who are there just to harass Canadians and they've been noticeably growing in numbers. One recent post was a very detailed, well-written plan about how the US is going to take over Canada, step by step. So it's not just small-time nonsense anymore. It's bad.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 1 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

smells more like back by troll farms for RU, they always do this kind of sht. remember they had to use jack prosebic to astroturf luigi news last month. since canadians, hopefully are cancelling thier plans to florida, the state is going to suffer massively if nobody visits pro-gop disney parks

[–] ehpolitical@lemmy.ca 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Sorry, I don't understand a lot of what you're saying... sounds very techie to me, and I'm not the brightest that way.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 1 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

RU as russian bots, drive alot of engagement(mostly in political subs, and news subs, they are behind all the misinformation in social media) and have been known to subsists most of the comments in those subs, luigi was the guy that shot a health insurance CEO, and everyone but the billionaires and thier MSM were applauding him. overtime news about luigi was being suppressed by reddit, and and on msms as well, as recently as last month a "social media influencer by the name of jack proesebic(owner of end wokeness) tried to astroturf him, and the account(jack who married a "russian-back wife" works as influencer for putin, similar to other right wing griftersd)

[–] tazzy@lemm.ee 5 points 6 days ago

Reddit is a horrible place

[–] solidheron@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago

Yeah we don't need Reddit to advertise Lemmy. I don't use reddit and reddit is obviously guarded against competitors since they're a corporation. I guess discord would be a better way to advertise Lemmy since it's not direct competition. So I guess post Lemmy links there
