This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

I recently got a ban on .ml for saying that the IS banning people from flying because they called in a bomb threat on an plane is not the same as China banning you from flying because you critisised the government.

Does anyone know what rule 4 is? I was banned from an ml community for that very rule a couple of days ago but have not made a comment anywhere on Lemmy for 9 months.

My current guess - I upvoted/downvoted the wrong person as that's about all I do on Lemmy.

i forgot but you didn’t actually break that rule, probably….
something i’ve learned from talking to real life leftists is: all very left online spaces, and i mean all, have been completely fucked over by shills.
often just completely controlled by them.
i just got permabanned from lost generation on reddit for absolutely not breaking the rules… they cited a rule, i asked how, then they just muted me from messaging the mods with a message just listing the rules, all of which i agree with….
it sucks but it’s been this way a very long time….
basically just cointelpro continuing.
my guess is you were too genuine and reasonable, so they fuck with you to make you think this is what the left is like, then hopefully you’ll give up and become a capitalist.

What's rule 1 on .ml? Everyone is getting banned for it.

[–] mkwt@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Rule 1 on .ml is "no racism." In this post, it appears to be "racist" against Chinese. At least from some kind of a point of view.

[–] Dasus@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

They also use "racism" as an excuse if you say Russia was wrong to invade Ukraine.

@Davel@lemmy.ml , lemmy.ml mod who larps an American but is a Russian fucking hates it

[–] amon@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

No, it is against China, not Chinese people.

"Chinese" is a heavily loaded term, containing nationality, ethnicity, culture and language. In this case it is criticising China the nation, not Chinese people in any sense.

It is racist to link China the nation to Chinese people, because many people who are ethnically Chinese do not associate with China.

I know I am about to be downvoted heavily by tankies but just remember that .ml are hypocrites.

Ableism is forbidden, so you get banned if you make fun of communists.

Man, your post has really brought out the CCP shills. It's fascinating to watch people go, "Nuh-uh! China doesn't do any of that!"

What is "Rule 1"? Is it "Thou shall not have a different opinion."?

[–] xor@lemmy.dbzer0.com 37 points 3 days ago (1 children)

thou shalt not say things that are censored in china….

[–] poVoq@slrpnk.net 23 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (10 children)

Funnily enough it seems like lemmy.ml and lemmygrad.ml are also censored in China via their great firewall.

Edit: lemmy.ml is still blocked, but lemmygrad apparently not.

Officially, it's "bigotry", unofficially it's a catch-all so that when someone brings it up their more prominent users can make declarations like this:

"routinely the actual reasons people are mad at .ml is getting banned/ censored for being bigoted"
