Took me a moment to realize this was a horse staring at me. πŸ˜…

[–] vext01@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 2 days ago

I had to read the comments to know what I was looking at.

Lmao what did you think it was?

[–] Brunbrun6766@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

Looked like a horses ass

It was a bit of a ride. At first, I thought the skin in the front of the picture looked maybe like the top of the head of an older pitbull. Maybe it had burried its snoot in your lap and you managed to snap a chaotic picture.
Then I spotted the ears at the other end and that it was quite long, so I thought, maybe I'm looking at the butt of a guinea pig.
Then I spotted the big eye, that's been staring at me for quite a while without me noticing. For whatever reason, I associate that with blue whales, although I obviously didn't actually think it was a whale.
Well, and then it all fell into place and I finally realized that it's a close-up of a horse.

The sweetest compliment I ever got was from my late husband. He told me that my skin was as soft as a pony's nose. This made me think of him, thank you.

Omg that's such a a sweet compliment! I'm glad I was able to bring back good memories!

The softness is killing me.

Horse kisses are so soft, reminds me of Beggar, he was a gold old boy that didn't want anything from me other than oats. Bring out the apples and you got the kisses.

Lol Sandy wants more than treats, but she does appreciate it when I bring bananas. She knows that when I show up, she'll get to leave her stall and exercise and get groomed and get lots of attention. Her owner doesn't come around ever and nobody else except one old dude even pays her any attention. The old dude and I have pretty much adopted her and work together to give her the life she deserves. She's very spirited, so a lot of people think she's dangerous but she's not. Well no less dangerous than any other horse.

Thanks for looking out for her. They need friendship and belonging. Their friendship is a very rewarding one.

If I had the space and the money I'd love to have a couple horses, donkeys and goats.

[–] LaunchesKayaks@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

I would love to have enough money to own my own horse, but that's probably years away. Sandy is very old, so I'm just giving her love like she's my own so she can know what it's like to have people who care for her during her last years.

You made me have a happy moment, thanks :)

[–] LaunchesKayaks@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I'm glad! Spending time with Sandy and the other horses at the stables is when I'm happiest and I want to share that with the world.

[–] killingspark@feddit.org 2 points 3 days ago

Yeah I miss that, I grew up around horses. Right now I'm living in a city and I have no connection to anyone with horses but I'm always glad to spend time with the pony my mum has when I visit home!

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I don't get why you'd buy a horse if you weren't going to spend time with it...shameful behavior. Some "owner" they are.

[–] LaunchesKayaks@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

Ikr? Poor girl just deserves the best, especially now that she's so old. I got her her own blanket for the cold days/nights because she didn't have her own. It has rainbow unicorns on it and matches her rainbow halter.
