Silly question. Is it normal for a hairdryer to overheat and cut out way before you’ve finished? Is this a quality issue or is it faulty/damaged?

I’ve been having this happen with different cheap hairdryers. And while my hair is difficult to get dry/takes ages, it isn’t even going for a long time. I only ever rough dry my roots and am having the dryer cut out before I’ve finished doing that.

Shout out to Australians for making good music (King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard, Flume, and more).

Okay the new Eurovision theme for Switzerland next year contains techno and yodelling, what more could you want? (Skip to 1:30 for the track.)

Moving ramblings (kinda want a whinge, feel free to swipe past)

To be honest I can't be bothered and don't have the energy to pack. Emotional energy mainly. I've got so much to do, and my childish mind just keeps reverting to "TO HARD. HIDE UNDER PILLOW TIL IT GOES AWAY", which I'll admit is beneficial in the short term, but I am moving TO.MOR.ROW and have only taken over 2 boxes and a bag of loose stuff

I don't have to return the keys until Friday, but I don't have a way to get back on Thursday or Friday besides the bus, so catching 3 buses or a bus and 2 trains just isn't practical with boxes and bags. I'm pretty sure only a small removalist van was booked (I didn't organise it), so while they probably can take a couple of boxes, the rest of my stuff will just have to make do with a few car trips

Considering I'm going to be moving again sometime between late next year and the end of 2026, it's looking kind of tempting to donate half my shit to the salvos and live like a nomad by necessity. But having done that, I do know that it's a depressing way of living, and you just amass new shit to fill the space anyway

Hey Baku (and I really do genuinely mean this) do you want a hand? I've got an evening free, got a car and a pair of hands if you need.

Thanks eagle, super appreciate it

I think I'm okay

Don’t do it perfect, just get it done.

What I used to do was get a backpack and put in my toiletries, toothbrush and a change of clothes, a towel, wallet, phone, music device. Anything delicate or expensive, anything I would want immediately or for the first night. That would go with me on the truck.

Then a green Woolies bag containing toilet paper, dish soap, maybe a cup and a plate and a tea towel. Maybe some muesli bars or cup noodles that you have or whatever. This is basically the kitchen and bathroom stuff you would need right away.

Then get either some of those airline carrier bags or sturdy garbage bags and pile anything non breakable in. Whatever you want to take. More breakable stuff might need boxes but you can wrap it in your blankets or clothes. Don’t bother too much with doing laundry, just transport the laundry basket. Books might need a plastic tub or box.

Ps. Sorry if advice is unwanted. This is just a way to break big tasks down and skip a lot of mental paralysis that would prevent me from starting.

I don’t really remember too much about my previous moves and the process is probably less neat with more panicking but I’ve done it a few times and this is probably how I would proceed in a time crunch now

It's all good (and appreciated) melbsy, thanks!

I also have the added "perk" of being easily sidetracked. I'll go to do one thing, then realise I need to do something else so start doing that instead. But getting distracted by something else before actually doing it 😂

I'll be honest, I'm nowhere near "almost done", but it'll be okay. I'll have an extra set of hands tomorrow, and honestly if it doesn't all get done, it doesn't all get done. Just gonna accept I'll forget or not have time to do things and just hope I can figure out a fix
