A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. A showerthought should offer a unique perspective on an ordinary part of life.

This is inherently political, but I thought it was interesting at this point of the timeline of events unfolding, he could be the de facto President despite not being a natural citizen. Trump has shown evidence of deferring to political strongmen like Putin and Kim Jong Un. I just have a gut feeling that he'd defer to Musk, who has a strong personality of his own.

Post is now 🔒 - see Rule 3

Elon has the charisma of stale white bread. Trump's a gullible, narcissistic bully. Elon isn't a strongman, he's an awkward, weird nerd. Trump would give him a swirly first. However, it's possible Elon is just smart enough to manipulate him like a little puppet. Gawd knows Trump is probably the easiest manipulated creature in possession of human DNA. The man must at least know how to fake charisma, many kids as he's had.

Elon from like 2013 when he was on big bang theory could probably have won. Hell Elon before twitter and the amber heard johnny Depp mess could probably have won. This guy legit was though of as irl Tony Stark until his inexorable demand for attention showed how shallow, weak, privileged and all round disappointing a human being he was.

He’s South African, he can’t be President lol.

He didn't found Tesla either but bought the title. So I wouldn't be surprised if Trump grants him natural born citizenship somehow. It's not like t by r supreme court will say no.

[–] urda@lebowski.social 13 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (2 children)

That’s not how that works

[–] bitchkat@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

All bets are off now sport. If Trump decides to announce that Elon has been granted natural born citizen status, who is going to stop him?

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Can we call him the usurper- in-chief yet ?

I too prefer misogyny

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Idk, I feel like there is a rift between Elon and the rest and that his money isn't really useful to Trump now that the election is over.

[–] SharkEatingBreakfast@sopuli.xyz 16 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

Make him take a drug test and publicly announce the results!

[–] TexMexBazooka@lemm.ee 3 points 2 hours ago

No one will care

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago (2 children)

Isn't this platform in favor of drugs?

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

mostly, but I think people are of the opinion of doing them responsibly and maybe not doing 2 week ketamine benders on twitter.

[–] SharkEatingBreakfast@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 hours ago

Is your average American who voted this circus into office in favor of drugs?

Donald Trump, president in name only? Musk and protect 2025 folks calling all the policy decisions? Figures. He was never very good at thinking.

[–] Croquette@sh.itjust.works 9 points 4 hours ago

Trump doesn't give a fuck. He just want to stay out of prison for all the terrible things he did.

Two gereatric Nepo babies running a train on our US.

Plebs are gonna get so fucked.

[–] Buelldozer@lemmy.today 17 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago) (1 children)

Musk is only 53, I don't think "geriatric" is a realistic description of him. Trump yes, but not Musk.

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 2 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

matter of perspective, for anyone under 30, these clowns are parasitic fossil

[–] lolrightythen@lemmy.world 10 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

They're both adolescents in my mind and I'm younger than either by over a decade.

being born on the third base permits a person to act however they want, and the peasants will have to take the beatings until morale improves.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Third base? These guys were born being carried across home plate.

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Sir this is a free market and capitalist society. Why do you hate success?

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

LOL, good one.

From an Atlantic article yesterday:

Bruno Maçães, a writer and consultant on geopolitics who has served as Portugal’s Europe minister, told me his phone had been ringing constantly since Trump’s election. European business leaders want to know what Trump will do with his second term, and how they can prepare. Maçães was not optimistic. He scoffed at Trump’s decision to create new, lofty-sounding administration posts for Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, and was baffled by the Silicon Valley types who believe the billionaires will transform the federal government, usher in a new era of unprecedented economic growth, and colonize Mars. “Maybe,” Maçães said. “I don’t know. But if you saw this in another country, you would see it as an acute sign of political decay when billionaires and oligarchy are taking over political policy.”

Actually it looks like he's fucking this opportunity up like he fucks up everything.

[–] empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 8 hours ago

Put two people with egos the size of the Moon in a room together, yeah they're gonna crash into each other lol

If it didn't involve the complete destruction of my future it'd be comical

[–] HenriVolney@sh.itjust.works 8 points 8 hours ago

You misspelled Putin

Edith Wilson was de facto president after Woodrow Wilson's stroke in 1919, for the remainder of his term, allegedly.

[–] BlitzoTheOisSilent@lemmy.world 19 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

It's crazy to think about those few years. Woodrow had a bad stroke, and Edith basically didn't allow anyone to disturb him. So they'd bring issues/bills/etc to her, and she would go in and "advise" the President, and then come out and relay his supposed response.

The closest we've ever come to actually having a woman President.

[–] emax_gomax@lemmy.world 4 points 4 hours ago

Isn't that kinda more like a coup? She subverted the natural elected representative of the people and seemingly just took over the position of president with no resistance.

[–] JudahBenHur@lemm.ee 3 points 6 hours ago

de facto is pretty fuckin close

[–] AbouBenAdhem@lemmy.world 14 points 10 hours ago

I think Dick Cheney beat him to it.
