With the season just starting thought it would be fun to post some predictions for the season for us to look back on at the end and see how they turned out.

Who’s going to have a breakout year?

Dark horse candidates for awards?

Surprises and upsets for the playoffs?

Anything else you want to throw out there is fine too!

Here are mine, reaching on them a bit for sure but not taking this too seriously.

  • Ben Simmons has a pretty good season and plays at least 60 games. Not a big fan of his but it’s a contract year lol if it’s going to happen it’s gonna be this year.

  • Celtics don’t make it past the conference finals. This one is hot especially after the opening night game but think their front court is weak and they got a bit lucky last year with the injuries in the East. Probably the one I’m at most risk of looking stupid on though.

  • OKC doesn’t make it to the conference finals. I’ve seen some taking them to win the west or at least get there but I think they still have some growing pains in the playoffs this year and go out in the 2nd round. The future is incredibly bright for them though, think they are perennial contenders in the west after this year.

  • Magic finish top 4
  • Grizzlies finish top 4
  • Clippers don't make the playoffs

Ah too early for that. I haven't gotten my eyes on every team and every player.

Too early prediction: Raptors will be bottom in East. Tank Commander Darko here we go! Celtics-OKC Finals. Jamal Murray won't find his form and Nuggets will lose in 1st round.

Yeah Murray has me concerned. The Nuggets have no depth at all so if their core 4 aren’t playing at their peak they don’t have a shot.

They have picks they could package in a trade but you’d have to part with either Murray or MPJ. I don’t think the Nuggets do that this season so they’re going to hope Murray stays healthy and figures his stuff out and the young guys improve enough. Definitely a lot of ifs this year for them.

I think they need to put Murray on ice for a few months then bring him back. He just looks broken and worn down. He was horrible in the olympics. We were cringing everytime he's on the floor.

sorry, I did not notice the thread before, here's mine, Cavs-centric:
Cavs are pushing offense through Mobley, with Mitchell more as a SG: DG’s role will be impacted not in a good way but if it works, it works. If it doesn’t, I can see Mitchell somehow going to Milwaukee (as long as they finally understand they traded the wrong player in Holiday instead of Middleton) among the dismantle of the Cavs’ core four
