They're aligned with Putin in the fascism. That's why they like him.

Too many liberals desperately want to believe the GOP wasn't already like this dating back to Eisenhower.

They want to believe in a loyal opposition, because it's easier to justify bipartisan compromise when your counterpart isn't a frothing lunatic.

I saw this yesterday at a kids soccer game:

Comedian Bill Engvall once suggested stupid people wear signs so you'd know not to get into a conversation with them. Here's your sign!

Reminds me of the tweet that a younger veteran wrote. He said he was out shopping while wearing something indicating his vet status, and he was approached by an old man in a MAGA hat. It went like this apparently:

Old man: Thank you for your service!

Vet: Get fucked, traitor.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That's beautiful. Sincere thanks for that guy's service in saying that.

[–] jaggedrobotpubes@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Get fucked (by somebody hot), citizen.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Joke's on Engvall. Put on a dunce cap and you'll attract people like a fucking magnet.

What the absolute fuck

[–] Prandom_returns@lemm.ee 1 points 1 month ago

Yep, they are the "normal" ones.

i wonder what their younger selves would think if you showed them this pic 10 years ago.

edit: found this interesting chart from vox around when this rally happened...

I imagine that people like this have always felt this way to some degree. Maybe because it was a different time back then, or maybe because they were younger (and thus more concerned with peer pressure), they were silent. Now they feel emboldened; for whatever reason. It’s like Pandora’s box: it’s been opened, and even if you close it, it’s too late. It’s out there now.

I have one reason: An orange conman/felon.

[–] acosmichippo@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

im not that sure. of course they were probably never friendly with democrats but russia was not far removed from literal communism for most of these guys’ lives.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Which is just crazy, because Russia was enemy number one for most of these people's lives.

[–] KnightontheSun@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Isn’t this from a town hall in like 2016? Eight years ago if so. They’d still be into it, think it’s a great shirt and whip out their credit cards.

[–] acosmichippo@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

looks like 2018. but I really don't think the republican-Russian love affair was a thing any time before 2016.

[–] Randomgal@lemmy.ca 32 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Ngl this just looks like two old buddies who need an excuse to feel less lonely and part of a community.

It just sucks that the only community they have is a fascist incubator.

If you're up to date with The Boys, Firestarter (Firecracker? The lady who cozies up to Homelander and takes medication to lactate) says about as much.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 23 points 1 month ago

Useful idiots

What are the odds COVID took care of that guy?

[–] Classy@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago

I'd rather be ~~Russian~~ blackout drunk

If you told me this was AI I would have believed you... But I know this is real.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 4 points 1 month ago

Yes. That's why they said "I know this is real."

[–] carl_dungeon@lemmy.world 18 points 1 month ago (1 children)

They should move to fucking Russia then

[–] radicalautonomy@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Move back, you mean. Look at them...those are two Russian faces. Ain't no way they aren't Kremlin plants.

[–] ApexHunter@lemmy.ml 15 points 1 month ago

These are exactly the faces you would expect to see wearing those shirts.

[–] WoahWoah@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Not a person of color to be seen. Shocking.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

There's always Clarence Thomas

[–] WoahWoah@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Yeah I also assume if Trump wins, Mark Robinson will somehow be installed on SCOTUS. It just makes sense, it's the obvious move.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

One here though. They're out there, offering their faces to the leopards.

Yeah, and there's a black nazi in North Carolina. The exceptions kind of prove the rule in this case.

[–] JimmyBigSausage@lemm.ee 11 points 1 month ago

Cult of the Cheese Turd

[–] nick@midwest.social 11 points 1 month ago

Looks like white trash to me.

[–] Smoogs@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Sooo…I guess they stopped using “commie” as an insult now?

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Do you think they know what communism actually is? In their mind it's whatever the Democrats are doing.

[–] lurch@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago

i don't think those two in particular look like cult. IMHO they look like edgy trouble makers trying to stir some shit and enjoy the drama. i think they would switch sides the minute they can cause more havoc with the other side, unlike loyal cult members.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Hate and the stink of too much fatty food is what I see.

[–] 800XL@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Punch them in their dumb pompous faces.
