Can't log in (sh.itjust.works)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by Elk0@sh.itjust.works to c/syncforlemmy@lemmy.world

Idk if it's just me but I semingly can't log in with Sync, it just keeps on saying invalid login, anyone got any ideas? If not, ill file a bug report.

Edit: I'm finally able to log in, turns out it was password length which is weird.

Ditto, but it seems to be a problem with lemmy.world. I successfully logged into a different instance.

As it turns out, the issue I was having earlier was due to CloudFlare blocking my login due to activity that looked like a bot. I cleared that rule and I'm all good now

I got that error when I tried to login to lemmy.world. Worked fine with lemm.ee.

.world is having issues at the moment.

I believe lemmy.world is currently experiencing downtime.

I'm using sh.itjust.works so that's not it

Is your password too long?

It was for someone earlier. They reduced their characters down to 32 and managed to log in fine.

[โ€“] Elk0@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Turns out that was the issue :/

[โ€“] sabreW4K3@lemmy.tf 1 points 1 year ago

Glad you got it sorted.

Same issue, but I run my own instance. The password is 1,000% correct, not sure what's wrong.

Obviously I'm not going to give you the exact character count of my password :p

[โ€“] Elk0@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yea lol, I mean like is it under 32 characters?

[โ€“] ubergeek77@lemmy.ubergeek77.chat 0 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Yeah, it's under 32 characters.

I'm trying to figure out how it's trying to log in, but log parsing in Lemmy is so hard when the server is shooting 2,000 lines per second. Other apps work fine with the same password.

[โ€“] Elk0@sh.itjust.works 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah same with my old password, worked fine with connect

[โ€“] ubergeek77@lemmy.ubergeek77.chat 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Well, if you get signed in, it'd be awesome if you could come let me know what worked for you!

[โ€“] Elk0@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I managed to log in, it was the length of the password, I changed my password to a shorter one and it worked

Now that's definitely strange, but thanks!

Any other details? Did you find your instance in the list?

[โ€“] Elk0@sh.itjust.works 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yes, it's sh.itjust.works, I put in my username and password and it just says invalid login. I even checked my password with the web version of the instance and the password is right

[โ€“] iso@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You might have to add "https://" in the beginning, but I doubt that that's it. What version is shitjustworks running on? Could be possible that sync can't log into older versions. Either that or the instance is just too overloaded.

[โ€“] Elk0@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's running 0.18.2 which is like 1 minor version update behind

[โ€“] iso@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah well, that might be the issue :/
