I think you are very wrong so have my upvote.
Although I agree I prefer one person vs interviews or conversation podcasts, these also have a place and "should not exist" is a bit too much
Welcome to the Unpopular Opinion community!
How voting works:
Vote the opposite of the norm.
If you agree that the opinion is unpopular give it an arrow up. If it's something that's widely accepted, give it an arrow down.
Guidelines:
Tag your post, if possible (not required)
Rules:
1. NO POLITICS
Politics is everywhere. Let's make this about [general] and [lemmy] - specific topics, and keep politics out of it.
2. Be civil.
Disagreements happen, but that doesn’t provide the right to personally attack others. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Please also refrain from gatekeeping others' opinions.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Shitposts and memes are allowed but...
Only until they prove to be a problem. They can and will be removed at moderator discretion.
5. No trolling.
This shouldn't need an explanation. If your post or comment is made just to get a rise with no real value, it will be removed. You do this too often, you will get a vacation to touch grass, away from this community for 1 or more days. Repeat offenses will result in a perma-ban.
Instance-wide rules always apply. https://legal.lemmy.world/tos/

You’re listening to the wrong podcasts.
What are you listening to; could you give some examples?
Every actual play RPG podcast I've heard has tons of crosstalk. It doesn't bother me, but I could imagine it bothering some.
Ah. Yes. I can see that. Yes I don’t listen to those.
I’ve not seen … ha!… heard many news podcasts where there is cross talk.
Examples of one person podcasts or more than one person podcasts?
Not the same guy, but I'm curious as to what you consider a great one person podcast.
Well that indeed is unpopular opinion. Every single podcast I listen to have more than one person talking. Most of them are interviews.
Though I don't understand why you think no one should be allowed to listen to them. I don't personally watch shorts for example but it doesn't bother me one bit if others do.
I can't do podcast with a single person talking. My brain gets bored and I stop paying attention (same issue with audiobooks)
You should play hell let loose. You could be talking to four different groups people at the same time.
Getting used to it is quite the adventure, because when something happens everybody starts talking at the same time
Here's my hot take: if you don't have decent microphones and microphone technique, and you aren't going to do a solid edit afterwards - don't make a podcast.
I don't want to have to crank my stereo up 2x it's normal volume to listen to some noisy, muffled mumbling.
sometimes i just wanna feel like that kid eating the cereal next to the poster of the girls, if i wanted one person, i'd listen to an audiobook
I am with you here. I dislike it when interviewers interrupt too much. Or when there's a lot of crosstalk.
Also dislike it when a podcast does a "live event" or takes random callers. I usually skip those.
i wish i could listen to podcasts without getting annoyed by multiple people flapping their face holes
i'm interested in information, not some half ass commentary on the information
Upvote because you've obviously never listened to Five Four Pod. Their banter is exquisite.
Interesting opinion! I really enjoy interview type podcasts like This American Life and The Hidden Brain, and those two wouldn't be possible without two people talking, as the interviewees wouldn't know how to shape the narrative for a podcast and the interviewer doesn't have the life experience of the person they are asking questions. Upvote for unpopularness!
I mean it's normally not a problem, just sometimes there's a person who tries to talk over everybody. Her name is Shereen Lani Younes.
